About Dr. Meier

Renowned for his expertise in surgical and nonsurgical treatments

Dr. Meier is passionate about helping patients with shoulder, knee, and spine problems reach and maintain their full, functional potential.

At Meier Orthopedic Sports Medicine, patients are given the same top-level care generally reserved only for professional athletes. While Dr. Meier has extensive experience caring for elite athletes, he believes that being functionally active is no less important for the so-called “average” individual. Everyone should and can have access to the highest level of orthopedic care.

Being free of pain and leading a physically active lifestyle is paramount to a happy and healthy life.

As a testament to his reputation among his peers, Dr. Meier is often considered the “Doctor’s Doctor” as many physicians refer to themselves and their own family members to him for their orthopedic issues.

Dr. Meier is skilled in the full complement of treatment modalities for musculoskeletal conditions and believes in implementing the least invasive methods to achieve the desired result. Treatment may require his surgical expertise for some cases, but alternatively, many conditions respond favorably to non-surgical approaches. In many cases, non-surgical treatments are tried before proceeding with surgical modalities. One patient’s best course of action may be somewhat different for another. Dr. Meier is always careful to be a good listener as each patient will reveal their set of priorities. Every patient is considered unique, and Dr. Meier works collaboratively to determine the best approach considering their individual needs and concerns.

“Dr. Meier is a fantastic doctor. He did a series of Prolotherapy injections on my knees, shoulder and low back, which saved me from having to have surgery. I trust him and his opinions on the best care for his patients.”

Specialties

Dr. Meier's Specialties

Meniscus Tear

When a meniscus tears, this can result in unstable tissue flaps in an area where the surfaces usually approximate closely and fit together intimately.

Articular Cartilage Injury

Cartilage or “chondral” injury can occur due to direct impact, a twisting injury, or repetitive wear to the joint surface.

Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Tear

The anterior cruciate ligament is most commonly injured during cutting, pivoting, or landing on a flexed knee with a planted foot.

Re-Tears of Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL)

An ACL retear can occur simply due to "bad luck" in someone who returns to high-risk sports.

Knee Arthritis

Arthritis invariably involves the breakdown of the cartilage, the slippery, gliding tissue that cushions the ends of bones where they contact one another in the joint.

Shoulder Impingement

This condition occurs when the rotator cuff tendons become pinched underneath the acromion process, a bony prominence at the top of the shoulder extending up from the scapula.

Acromioclavicular (AC) Joint Pain

Acromioclavicular (AC) joint pain manifests as localized discomfort at the top of the shoulder.

Rotator Cuff Tear

When the rotator cuff becomes torn, the damaged area is usually located where the tendon connects with the bone of the humerus, the tendon insertion site.

Failed Rotator Cuff Surgery

Generally, rotator cuff surgery has a high patient satisfaction rate, but there are several reasons patients may experience poor results or complications after surgery.

I recieved Regenerative Injection Therapy on my right hip back in early March, 2018 from Dr. Meier. The result thus far have been very good - I have less pain and much better mobility. Dr. Meier and his staff are true professionals and have been great at setting expectations for the potential results of the Regenerative Injection Therapy process, making sure all my questions are answered in detail both before and after the procedure. I highly recommend Dr. Meier to anyone looking for alternatives to a hip replacement.
